The Countryside School is home to 379 students in Grades K-4, and 65 staff members each school day.

We have a very active and caring Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). In addition to raising funds for technology, assemblies, field trips, and playground equipment, the PTO generates ideas for school improvement. The group also coordinates the efforts of parent volunteers throughout the year. Our volunteers assist in classrooms, library and computer lab on a consistent basis, and are invaluable in helping us to provide special events and undertake special projects for our students.

Professional Development is an integral part of the Countryside School mission. The School Level Planning Committee, educational research, strategic planning and student needs have defined the focus of our staff development.

Listed below are just a few of the many opportunities our students have been given to encourage active learning:

Through our Buddy Program, each preschool child in our school is paired with a fourth grade buddy. The buddies meet for one period a week and participate in a teacher directed learning activity.

Our Journal Writing classes offer all students many opportunities to explore the meaningful things they have learned through writing.

SEAT (Self Esteem through Art Travel) students study the basic art elements (line, shape, color, texture) through a multicultural approach. Using maps and globes, students stay seated and travel the world, visiting other countries, cultures, people, architecture and historical sites to learn art lessons.

Student Announcer Program - the students in kindergarten through fourth grade are selected to conduct the morning opening exercises, and announcements.

After school - Computer Club, Homework Club, Positive
Behavior Incentive Club, Reading Club and Garden Club.

Community Support and Fund Raising Activities – as a part of our fourth grade community service activity, each class conducts a fund raiser, toy drive, book collection or relief fund drive to support and aid those in need.
